River Great Ouse at Bedford from a Kayak

My lovely Husband bought me a Kayak for my Birthday this year.  Now I’m not an experienced paddler but I have been wanting a small boat to get out on the river with the added benefit of toneing up my arms.

On the River Great Ouse you really should have a small boat licence for a Kayak which will set you back the princely sum of £35 a year.

This is a Intex inflateable Kayak for 2 people, though as the maximum weight is 100kg that would be 2 very small people, so I use it as a single hander.  It comes with a great manual pump that is surprisingly effective, only taking 5 minutes to inflate and then I am ready to go.  In fairness I have tied it up to the pontoon adjacent to Apple as I don’t want to have to inflate and deflate it every time I want to go out.

It has been really easy to get used too and now I am happily off up or down the river taking advantage of the last few days of summer.

Here are a few of the photographs I have taken over the last week or so.  I am sure there will be plenty more in the future.
